The "olimpiyka" is a sweater with a zippered collar. It has become a symbol of the many victories of Soviet athletes at the Winter Olympics. In the Soviet Armed Forces the "olimpiyka" was part of the outfit in the Sport Troops, where it was valued for its simplicity and reliability. It made from a blend of merino wool and acrylic. It fully repeats the advantages of the original models: a comfortable fit, collar with steel zipper and elastic band at the bottom. The name "olimpic" appeared during the preparation for the 1980 Olympics. Soviet fashion designers' main goal was to create not only a comfortable and utilitarian element of the closet of the Soviet athletes, but also a beautiful one. All efforts were thrown into this: every detail, design and fabrics were carefully studied and selected. The olimpiyka has rightly earned the love of both athletes and ordinary citizens of the USSR.
